Birthday celebration games?

This topic was inspired by the similar one about annual Halloween games, and by the fact that today is my own birthday.

Do you do anything special in game on your birthday, or on the birthdays of the other players or the DM? My new DM declares each player's birthday to be their one day of the year on which they have the honour of getting to be unquestionably the greatest.

He ran a one-shot which, by the end of, my character had ascended to Godhood.

It was a good game, and a nice present.

(Also yay, I'm 19 now! :D )

Well, bah. I was going to XP you and say happy birthday, but apparently I've given you too much love. (Insert birthday sex joke here).

Anyway, personally, I don't see my birthday as a big deal, and my current players don't either. What I've done over the last year is that if we're gaming on (or near...as in a couple of days) someone's birthday, that person gets to be awesome (every roll is a hit, every Save is made...that sort of thing) and gets an XP award for 'choosing' to be born on that day.

Happy Birthday!

For me, once I was 21, birthdays were meaningless, but even before that I was not inclined to celebrate. My mom tries to make a big deal out of them but that just annoys me.

Happy birthday! I personally have never done anything special for birthdays but I have always gamed with friends so we are usually partying and so are in no condition to ba gaming anyway.

Though for this year I hope that I will get to travel to see my friends and maybe we can put a game together as a change of pace.

Happy birthday!

In answer to your question: I'm too old to get excited for birthdays. They're just another day, which I use to request a day off of work and have a lazy day. They're enjoyable, but not because I celebrate another year.

I rarely even worry about my age. I say I'm old, and I do feel kind of old, but I'm not terribly (to you, I'm probably ancient). In fact, I forget how old I am sometimes. I argued with my wife about it a month or two ago. She had to explain to me that my birthday hadn't come around yet, so I was only 32. It took her a while to convince me because I've gotten stubborn in my old age.
