Are you saying I'm not allowed to have positive opinion of a game you dislike unless there is a financial invective for me to? That is a very odd thing to say.

One, I didn't say that. You are free to have a positive opinion of the games you and several others here happen to like. I asked because I was curious.

Two, you are assuming that I dislike them. I don't know if I would like them or dislike them if someone in RL handed me a copy of them or if I looked at them on Anyflip. I just know that these two RPGs are out there

Investing in an RPG isn't always financial. If you really like a particular RPG very much, it's because you are emotionally invested in it. You want it to succeed and carve out a niche among the other RPGs.

That doesn't actually have anything whatsoever to do with why the term was coined. Ron Edwards created the term to indicate that they were heartbreakers because ultimately they didn't do enough innovation to justify being their own game (in his mind, anyway) instead of just a little zine of D&D house rules. As a game designer who loves mechanics, I guess that broke his heart.

He probably does know that there are other games out there besides D&D. It would be hard for him to not know, seeing as how he must have gone to conventions, interacted with his fellow attendees and tried out those other RPGs.

Bob doesn't seem old enough to remember the real heartbreakers... before the DTP revolution.

I tend to draw the line at Lightning Print for the before/after.

Well, finsl video csme and proved my point - a poll where one of top 3 results is a signifier you omitted an important option is not indicative of snything. I managed to watch until he insilted relatively pretty successful games like Draw Steel and Daggerheart with "fAnTaSy HeArTbReAkEr" insult and I left.

I won't be watching his videos anymore after this debacle.

I really don't think Bob was trying to put those game down. He's spoken highly of those games in other videos. I didn't realize that phrased carried such a negative connotation until I saw all the negative feelings it stirred up in this thread, and maybe Bob didn't know either.

(That said, I do feel like Bob's older content better...)
