Bonus Damage of Power Lunge

I wanted to ask how the Power Lunge (Sword and Fist) works exactly. It gives doule strength damage. Is this in addition to the normal strength damage? I think not, but ohterwise some PRCs get double damge for free all the time and without AoO, but double str added to the normal damage sounds bad.

Is it doubled with a critical?

The double strength damage replaces the normal strength damage on the attack. So, if you are attacking with a 2 handed weapon, you get x2 str instead of x1.5 By the same token if you attack with your off hand it's double strength bonus instead of half.

And I'd just treat it as normal for a crit.

There is a line that states it is double strength damage regardless of whether it is a one handed or two handed weapon. Mantis Leap works the same way.

As an aside (and I don't mean to highjack this thread) I am always confused if Power Lunge stacks with lances and spirited charge which would be x3 damage dice and x4 strength mod (on a critical hit that would be x4 damage dice and x5 strength mod) but techincially the mount is charging not the PC, which isn't much of an excuse by the wording of the feat, but it is hard to picture how one is provoking the AoO while on the mount.

There's also the confusion about mantis leap and power lunge but I think it's a one or the other question. There is also the added complication of Rhino's Hide. My word that's a lot of multiplication.
