Bored?

You ever get bored with the standard d20 fantasy stuff but don't have a love for learning a new game system or working with a game system that doesn't have a lot of support?

Anyone know any original material coming out soon?

Don't get me wrong, there's a lot of great d20 material coming out, but even some of the more esoteric titles, like Doom Striders, have seen some type of similiar book or theme before.

Just looking to see what's actually new out there.

I have some hope for Chaostech from Monte but not too much else is striking me as brand new.

I'm a little bored, but probably just because I'm writing a lot again. I'm playtesting/feedbacking a new campaign world called Nevermore, (by Joseph Miller, aka. "That guy from Privateer Press via the last ENnies).

I think it's something special and definitely different.

I'm bored with many of the standards of D&D itself, but not d20 per se. In fact, we're playing right now with a fair mix of D&D non-magical classes and AU magical classes, and it feels relatively fresh to us.

I'm not really interested in learning an all new system either. I am interested in seeing variation on the system, though -- something that allows you to play characters or games that are noticably different than D&D itself. I think d20 has a lot of stuff out there that qualifies, from AU to Sovereign Stone, to Midnight, etc.

Well, I can safely say that Doomstriders is going to be a lot newer than you might think..... :D

Perhaps. Bastion has done Golem Armor before. Guardians of Order has d20 Mecha out. Dream Pod 9 did the Mecha Compendium with several variants of power armor, including a few fantasy ones. Sorcery & Steampunk has steam based armor.

It'd have to be pretty different to not have any similiarity to those above, especially the Mecha Compendium which covered several genres from fantasy power armor to huge fantasy robots capable of fighting a dragon.

So you don't just want a new spin, you want "and now for something completely different." :D I'm not aware of anything coming out that's truly different than anything else I've seen before. I guess I'm not that bored yet...

I feel like I got my hands full since I still have to read through the Warcraft RPG, and wanna get AU to see how it would adapt to a new campaign. I may be bored in a month, but I will just pick up a book or two by SSS or others to get some inspiration. I love the industry solely because there is so much out there to get ideas and game moods from though I may never fully adapt any supplemental guide. I think there are enough out there to occupy my free time for a while to come.

If you want something completely Original...may i suggest...

Original D&D(1974) the only true game. All the other editions are just poor imitations of the real thing. :D

Well, when you send your copy over, I'll take a look at it.

Now are we talking about Chainmail, Blackmoor and the Gods supplement or are you talking about that poor imitation that came out after it?

Well, the most original game I know of out there is Deadlands. In fact, I'd go so far as to say its my favorite published world/system. And there is Deadlands D20 if you don't want to try a new system (though I can't figure why you'd use D20 Deadlands when the original system is there- much more appropriate to the setting). Very original, and I guarantee that your players won't have done anything like it before. It can be classic western (Clint Eastwood western), campy (like an Evil Dead movie), frightening (like Ravenous), or just plain funny (Brisco County Jr.)- and usually some mix of all of the above. Some of the best RPing I have ever seen has come out of Deadlands. The usual stereotypes players have exhausted in D&D (elven mage, dwarven fighter, etc) aren't here- its a whole new genre, with the possibility of fresh ideas. Plus, the books are THE most entertaining game books to read out there, bar none. Give it a shot, and you won't regret it.
