Call of Cthulu adventures linked to Freeport?

I was looking at RPGNow and saw this product, the first in a series:

Curse of the Yellow Sign, Act I: Digging for a Dead God - Wicked Dead Brewing Company | RPGNow.com

It looks like the "Yellow Sign" on the cover (and used as a link to the scenarios) is almost exactly the same as the symbol used in the Freeport series as part of a key cult.

Are these cross-referenced to each other on purpose? Is there a tie to Freeport somehow with Call of Cthulu?

Those adventures by John Wick (which look really good and are on my RPGNow wishlist) aren't related to Freeport. Act I is set in 1939 and deals with a Nazi slave mining operation in Africa, for example. I think John's premise and goal with this series is to craft an atypical Call of Cthulhu scenario.

Green Ronin's Freeport does have some strong Lovecraftian and Cthulhu mythos ties based on mythos fiction - The Yellow Sign and Yig for example - but aren't really tied to the Call of Cthulhu RPG either.

Hi Catsclaw,

Freeport explicitly references the shared universe of H.P. Lovecraft, which includes the Brotherhood of the Yellow Sign, Hastur, and the King in Yellow. It's an open universe, which means just about anyone can use certain elements. Of course, Green Ronin had certain connections that smoothed the way with any overlapping elements that Chaosium uses.

See my overview of the majority of 3.0/3.5 adventures for how to tie Hastur in with Freeport: RPG Examiner
