There is another peal of thunder, and two more bolts of lightning stab down from the sky. Tonk leaps out of the way and the lightning bolt grounds itself in the earth, but Blade is caught by surprise and the second bolt zigs through the sky straight towards him! At the last minute, however, it twists aside and strikes the top of one of the twisted trees nearby, knocking a branch loose to plummet to the ground. [sblock=Nature 14] The lightning seems to be moving more erratically now, and is being attracted to tall trees as it normally would. If you are next to a square containing something taller than you and you are struck by lightning, you now get a save to transfer it to the tallest adjacent target. [/sblock] The stone elemental ignores the lightning and slams its massive rocky fist down on Tristan once, and then twice. Both fists slam into Tristan and send him staggering back under the might blow. He collapses to the ground. The elemental lumbers forwards, scoops up his limp body, and hurls it at Mikara, whose head is just visible peeking through the trees. Tristan is struck dead on impact, and Mikara is knocked off her feet under the weight of his body. A greasy orange smoke puffs up from the ground to envelop the two of them, and when it clears, Tristan's body is gone, leaving only Mikara lying bleeding on the ground. [sblock=Tristan] You awake in a shadowy room. Your body feels numb, and you are weak from exhaustion. You are in a hard, uncomfortable bed, looking up at a vaulted stone ceiling overhead. A kindly looking old man with a stubble of grey and white beard leans over you. The holy symbol of Lauto hangs from his neck. "There. Ssh. Don't try to move - you're all right now," he says, patting your shoulder. You can barely feel it. "Don't you worry, the god you've served so well wouldn't abandon you! Of course, there wasn't much we could do while you were alive - not our sphere of influence at all - but once you died we were able to pull you out of there right away. You'll be safe here - you're beneath the Temple, not even the strongest of bounty hunters can get at you in HERE." "It will take a bit of time for your strength to return, but don't worry, you'll be on your feet soon. In the meantime, you can follow how your friends are doing." He points to your right, and you turn your head (with some difficulty) to see a large orb, 5-feet wide, in which you can see the tiny figures of your friends still fighting the much large figure of the elemental. The priest takes a few steps to leave, then suddenly turns back to you. "Oh," he says, "I almost forgot. We're not allowed to make exceptions, so we'll still have to charge you. But we'll give you some time to get your affairs together and scrape the money together. A week should suffice." He tucks a piece of paper under the sheet by your neck and waves cheerily. [sblock=Bill] Tristan Moonblade, of Daunton, having arrived in the arms of Lauto in the most dire state of death, and been returned from this state by the intercession of His priests, now owes the Temple of Lauto the sum of 500 gold. [/sblock] OOC: running out of time for tonight, so I will award you your XP tomorrow. Feel free to RP with the priest, or skip forward in time until after you've recovered and return to the tavern, join other adventures, etc. Don't settle up your bill or do anything about the lawyers yet, though - that will need to wait until everyone else has arrived here. I'll wait until then to award treasure. Congrats on surviving so long! It took a Level 6 solo to bring you down! [/sblock] [sblock=Tonk] Your shuriken knocked a large chunk of rock loose from the elemental's hide, and it's now lying on the ground in square L14. It's almost perfectly round and looks like it would make a fine mace head, and you can see it crackling with elemental energy. [/sblock] [sblock=Status] Mikara shifts to I12, misses with Evasive Strike and then Elven Accuracy (using an AP), shifts to H12, and then moves to E11 and hides with Stealth 13. Tristan puts his Oath of Enmity on the Stone Elemental, shifts to J13 and hits it twice for 40 (using an AP), and puts Oath of the Final Duel on it. Tonk shifts to O16 and hits it with a shuriken for 24, then misses with his AP and shifts to P17. He can't roll Stealth because you can only roll Stealth after a move action, not an attack that contains movement. The tree stumps are difficult terrain, the trees themselves are blocking terrain and block line of sight. Due to the mud, everyone's speed is reduced by 2 - you can run to move at regular speed, but must make a DC 15 Balance check - if you fail, you can't move, if you fail by 5 or more, you fall prone. Lightning strikes Blade and Tonk: Lightning at (1=Blade,2=Dextyr,3=Tristan,4=Tonk) (1d4=1, 1d20+8=24, 1d10+4=11, 1d4=4, 1d20+8=13, 1d10+4=14) Hits Blade, misses Tonk. Blade gets a saving throw: "save" to get lightning to strike adjacent trees (1d20=18) He makes it, and the lightning strikes the nearby trees instead.
