Check out D&D's redesign of Bahamut

The dragon diety's stats will appear in an upcoming Dungeons & Dragons comic book.

Bahamut is sporting a new look in several Dungeons & Dragons-related material. Earlier this month, Wizards of the Coast released Arcana Unleashed, a magic-themed rulebook that included a chapter on magical patrons. One example given as a patron was Bahamut, who received a nifty piece of new artwork. While Bahamut has traditionally been depicted as a massive metallic dragon, this new version depicts Bahamut as having an overwhelming magical aura that radiates from his body.

Earlier this month, Polygon previewed several variant covers to the upcoming Dungeons & Dragons comic series, which included another new look at Bahamut, as illustrated by Antonio José Manzanedo. This shows off Bahamut's magical aura wings and aura, along with a scale of how large the dragon god is compared to its gold dragon servants, which look miniscule by comparison.

The upcoming Dungeons & Dragons comic will feature a statblock of Bahamut, which will likely be one of the more powerful creature statblocks ever created for D&D 5.5E. Several other iconic dragon statblocks will also be featured as extra content in the comic.

Agreed. Why mess with draconic perfection?
Oh goodness no. The 3e-4e-5e dragons were not perfection. Interestingly, IMO, the dragons of that era that I liked the best got the least amount of change. The butcher job 3e+ did to white, black, and blue dragons I will never forgive!

I think the only 5e24 dragon I don't like the update is the copper. Everything else works very well IMO. Always room for improvement though.

I'd like to see Tiamat get a similar treatment. Like the old Bahamut looked like a unique dragon, and this looks like a dragon  god.
I would like to see a new look for Tiamat too (I have some ideas if they ask ;)), but this is the version of Tiamat with the new designs

I do really like the 2024 Tiamat, the sheer size of her is fantastic.

But I actually meant like, a new new look. Like how Bahamut had his 2024 redesign, and also we're seeing this further update to his look that's seen in Arcana Unleashed and this comic.

I want to see a Tiamat that also has that extra deific touch.

Yes, that was what I was advocating to (though not really to get a deific touch), and am working on myself. I was just pointing out they have already released a 5e24 design so I don't think they will change it much.

So other have pointed out how massive Bahamut must be given how small those gold dragons look in comparison. But can we recognize, given this, how absolutely huge the canaries are in the second image?
I think so? The size difference was enough to inspire me to think up the name of a possible Illusion spell that D&D might be lacking. The spell False Perspective.
