my wife is finishing her tour of duty on her current assignment. and is trying to figure out where to go next. the option of staying put is the biggest one. but if you had a choice to live anywhere in the world while working for the US federal gov't, where would you choose?

of course, this also means i will need to find another lab job too. and yet another group to game.

she speaks spanish fluently. and i speak a little french. both of us are native english speakers. ;)

Charlottesville, VA

We have several Federal agencies here for your wife to work at (the "Spy Center" is the biggest, but I have no idea what they do there. I just know that many people in this town have Top Secret clearances), and more lab jobs for you at UVA than you would know what to do with. And I might know of a few gamers for you to play with... I may be able to convince a few to play OD&D, too.

we are both in the public health care field. she as an epidemiologist and me as a lab rat/gene jockey/ mad scientist.

raleigh, nc is running a distant second right now to hotlanta.

but i wanted some other ideas so i could have a little say too. ;)

seattle, san juan (pr), and portland are also on the list.

switzerland, all of africa, most of central asia (the stans), most of the far east, and even parts of south america. plus the 50 states and all of territories.

Just as an aside, Bangkok isn't actually named Bangkok. It's got the longest place name in the world- if you just call it 'Krung Thep' you've got the start of it, and that makes a good impression on the Thais. So if you go there, bear that in mind. :D

I recommend Seattle, it's a very nice city, though chilly and always gloomy and wet.
