Cleric + Treat Disease

In the PHB, in the Treat disease paragraph, says:

Treat Disease: Part of the diseased character’s extended rest. You must attend the character periodically throughout the extended rest, and you make your Heal check when the rest ends.
Replaces Endurance: Your Heal check result determines the disease’s effects if the result is higher than the diseased character’s Endurance check result.

Can a Cleric use his heal check to determine disease proggression about a disease he contracted? Or he can apply his heal check only to others?

So, considering the usually low endurance check a paladin has (if he has plate armor + heavy shield), it is more difficult for him to face a disease than a PC he is aiding. Isn't that strange?

I think that the cleric will also have low endurance check, since he can't train endurance.

Well, he could always take of the encumbering armour and shield when he goes to bed - that would remove the armour check penalty and thus his comparative disadvantage.

I'd certainly hope he didn't extended rest in his plate and shield, indeed :)

If he gets attacked at night, he has to hide behind the elderly old wizard in a bathrobe or the practically naked child-like halfling rogue in his tiger-stripped sleeping thong, both of whose ACs are vastly superior. That's more than a little embarrassing, enough to lose your knighthood! The Paladin NEVER removes his plate!

Very true, under normal circumstances.

However, should he want to avoid a minus to his endurance check, it is wise to remove one's armour - unless, of course, one isn't in a very safe place.

That said, all this does is bring this rare occurence in line with what was the norm in 3.5.
