"Clerical" Turning Smackdown help

The Cleric's ability to Turn Undead is much like the Ranger's favored enemy. It is useful when fighting specific enemies (ie Undead) but that is about it. Of course, the Cleric has several more options when they pick their domains. They can end up turning elementals, animals and even plants.

So I was curiously thinking about a character (probably a Cleric, but other classes like Druid might apply) that concentrated on Turning things. Undead, Animals, Plants, Elementals, etc. This way, given any situation, they could turn just about anything.

Are there any domains/abilities (or even spells) that could turn humanoids or specific humanoids (kobolds, orcs, elves, what have you)? How about turning outsiders?

I was wondering what kind of build one could use for this. Does anyone have any ideas on a good Turning Smackdown? The primary objective is to find a broad range of creatures to turn. The secondary objective is to make it hard for these creatures to resist. Or to put it another way, to give this character very high pluses to their Turning check. Thoughts?

you could use the obad-hai build and end up with domains in fire, earth, water, air, plant and animal. hell, maybe sun too. also, the domination domain in relics and rituals allows for turning humanoid creatures as well.

perhaps something like:

cleric 7, divine disciple 1, divine agent 1, contemplative -> 20th.

alternately, the kingdoms of kalamar player's handbook has some additional rules for channeling energy. you might want to look there.

My initial thought is that you could make something like this into a Prestige Class. It would be pretty darn powerful.

Off the top of my head, I'd make it a Cleric prestige class... not sure what I'd make the prerequisits, but being able to Turn would certainly be one of them.

I'd probably give the class a cleric-progression and cleric hit-dice, and no more spell progression.

I would guess you'd get bonuses to turning, and you'd be able to turn additional types of creatures as you leveled up... similar to how a ranger gets favored enemies.
