Well, not terrible but not exactly riveting either. Seems to evidence the tells of a writer who's just sort of punching the clock. Namely, the defining trait of all characters seems to be glibness. It's a safe default behavior for protagonists. Overusage tends to deflate tension from scenes; the run-in with the gnolls feels rather rote, for instance.
Having said that, I was annoyed back when TSR killed their deal with DC in the eighties. Didn't make much sense, as the comics were popular enough, but that was par for the course. Glad to see them taking a decent crack at it again.
