Common mistakes you have made as a player

So what have you done that you just werent thinking and ended up breaking the rules.

Me?

I have a cleric character who has leadership. His cohort is a rogue/brigand (from Kalamar PG). Three times now my cleric has cast Bullstrength on the Cohort. All three times the strength increase has been enough to add either +1 or +2 to his attack and damage rolls. All three times now I have added those bonuses to the cohorts attacks with his short swords.

GAHHH!!! Every single time I have forgotten that the damn cohort uses weapon finesse with his short sword and the strength bonus for attack should not be applied since his enhanced strength of 12 or 14 does not beat his dex of 18 when it comes to attack bonuses.

Finally I made a small change to the cohort character sheet and have it clearly marked next to his short sword attack and damage that he has weapon finesse.

Anyone else feel like fessing up?

There are some feats that are so hard for me to remember that I never end up taking them or using them on my NPCs. Dodge is one that's really hard for me to remember, so is Point Blank Shot.

Our wizard used extended Rary's Mnemonic Enhancers without realizing that they had Instantaneous duration.

I stacked my Strength Domain power on top of existing Bull's Str spells (both are enhancement bonuses). Also, my DM agreed to let me use it as reflex action against grapples.

"Goodbye to 2e" game:

My DM allowed me to upgrade a whole bunch of characters to 14th level to play through "The Axe of the Dwarven Lords". Not really knowing my stuff, when we ran into a room with 200 goblins and something like 50 third level goblin clerics, my characters soon fell to silence and hold person spells.

Now, if I'd remembered globe of invulnerability, things would have gone a lot easier...

Three handed barbarian

I had a barabarian character once who switched off using a bastard sword one handed with a sheild to using a bastard sword two handed. There were many times when she was using the sword tow-handed that I kept adding in the shield bonus for my +2 large sheild to her AC. Oops!

My cleric got his hands on a nice enchanted warhammer and was having a great time with it, until he realized that 3e clerics are not profficient with warhammers! blarg.

In the game i'm currently playing in i wound up with perminant pro. from evil on my cleric, so of course in the last game we were preping for a big fight and i cast pro. from evil on myself, then proceeded to forget about adding the bonus's.

Note that if you have at least a +2 ring of protection and a +2 cloak (or other item) of resistance, the prot. evil bonuses become moot. If you can afford to get permanent prot. evil, I'm guessing you'd have these items.
