Community Reference Document?

It seems the biggest barrier stopping publishers producing 4E adventures under the OGL is a lack of monsters and traps. Given the number of fans churning out 4E monsters on these very forums, would it make sense for a group to produce a single stat block format (similar but not identical to Wizards') and then solicit contributions from the community?

that sounds like a great idea, why not make a wiki out of it here on enworld.

make a central page that is really nothing more than a listing. and then anyone can add a link to their own creation. Call it "The 4E Community Reference Document", CRD for short.

and if you want editorial control, then perhaps you or whoever could simply control a listing of "preferred" or "best" monsters.

I think you should just let it be as open as possible, publishers/producers will pick and use the best ones. bad quality will be ignored. and, of course, the wiki itself wouldn't have to be a reference for the reader. the writer can reprint the stat blocks from the wiki in the published material. assuming there is an expressed caveat that any material linked to in the central listing is OGC and the one who places the link is solely responsible for the content linked to. (limited liability etc).

and for a good stat block format, just use one from one of 4E OGL adventures already published.

EDIT - but then again, it seems like there isn't too great a lack of material out...plus isn't that the sort of creation publishers get paid to do?

And what kind of license does the material published on ENWiki fall under...is it all public domain?
