For reasons I cannot state because my players are present, I need some humanoids with absolutely no care for life.

And evil.

The kind who would jump off a cliff holding their spear hoping to wound an enemy if it gave them the slightest better chance of hitting. The kind who would feed themselves to a large animal to slow it down. Fearless.

Baddies that see 35 of their brethren slain in a row by one guy and think "I better rush hi too!"

Remember that general in LoTR that didn't blink when the huge pieve of cornice was fung amongst them a few feet from him? That guy, but more like a mook.

Small or medium, 1 HD, combat opriented and insane by all modern, western standards.

Which humanoid race do you think best fits this?

Any humanoid with true faith in its religion. One who absolutely believes that when it leaves this mortal coil it goes on to bigger and better things. Look at muslim terrorists.

Skaven (or Slitheren/ratmen in Scarred Lands, which are really the same thing) work pretty well for this. Besides, as ratmen, they're not far removed from lemmings...

Gnolls have 2HD, but otherwise they're pretty close. They're all fanatical servitors of a demon prince (Yeenoghu).

Use a subclan of orcs who are fanatic to Erythnul (or similar).

Do they have to be living? I could certainly see a bunch of animated skeletons acting as you've envisioned.

I have to go with Lasher Dragon here. Choose a fanatical religious sect as opposed to a race. But you could also go with a political group as well. Think kamikazes from WW II, so dedicated to their cause, sure we'll slam our little airplanes into the big US ships. I think it's more common to find that level of fanatical commitment among groups of people dedicated to one cause rather than an individual race.

On a more serious note, Utgard's Minions (sp?) from Legacy of Dragons might fit. Or any race that has an animal-like intelligence.
