D&D 5E (2024) Conjuration Adept +Sorcerer. Theory Craft.

So the Sorcerer generally isnt very good a summoning things. Outside subclasses with a single summon spell ( aberration, dragon, construct), thats pretty much it.

Conjuration adept adds two spells worth paying attention to. Conjure Animals and Summon elemental. Conjure animals is essentially an emanation. Not quite as good as say Spirit Guardians or Conjure Celestial/Woodland beings. Spells Sorcerers dont get however.

So Why Sorcerer?

As per usual metamagic. Specifically extend spell. This gives Conjure spells a 20 minute duration. Conjure Elemental however and Summon Aberration/Construct/Dragon last for two hours. This is important due to short rests. You dont get much off a short rest but your allies do.

Additionally extend spell gives you advantage on concentration saves on extended spells. No warcaster needed. Sorcerers are proficient on con saves.

Your save is PB+ con +charisma score with advantage. +9 with advantage at lvl 5. You're hitting DC 20 fairly reliably. Thats a 40 damage strike.

Sorcerers are also some of the best blasters in the game. The dragon sorcerer is probably the best blaster period. They lack summons and emanations generally. Hmmmnn. A 20 minute Conjure animals or 2 hour pet. On top of whatever you're doing anyway.

Probably dont want to do control due to concentration slot requirement. Dragon Sorcerer has command but extend and empower are probably your jam.

Opportunity cost. Sorcerers are also great at control. Conjuring on top of blasting via pet or emanation though.

Thoughts on this concept. No idea if its worth doing. Obvious picks are Druids, Warlocks, Wizards.

Lvl 5 Conjure animals is 5d10 AoE save fo 0 vs CME +3d6 per hit.

Meh, seems kind of Bland to me. Part of this may be that Summon Fey and the old 5E Summon Greater Demon are the only Summons I really like.

This is a flaw. You don't need Warcaster for this, but you need it for other things, and double advantage doesn't stack.

It's not terrible, picking this feat up on a sorcerer adds some options if you miss summoning, but draconic sorcerer gets Summon Dragon eventually. Most of the 5.5 sorcerer subclasses add summoning options.

I think if you really want to do fun stuff with the Adept feats you should look at bards. They are the class with the fairly narrow class spell list.

For sorcerers, Wild Magic has the most limited spell list, and therefore has most to gain from a feat that grants them extra spells known.

Divine Soul comes to the rescue here, offering a wide variety of Conjuration and Necromancy that don't appear on the Sorcerer spell list.

Conjure Celestial, Create Undead, Planar Ally, Planar Binding, Spirit Lantern, Summon Celestial, Guardian of Faith, Sticks to Snakes, Animate Dead, Spirit Guardians, and Helpful Homunculi.

Yeah its kinda obvious/easy mode though.

Debating on giving it the domain spells known as 5.5 conversion buff
