Connect the gamer

You guys remember the game where you connect two actors/actresses by the movies he or she was in? Well I noticed from the poll that quite a few of you play in several groups. I wonder if you guys could connect say, bob the ENer in so cal, to bill the ENer in Maine by the games they have played in. Past groups count, but online groups don't.

I've noticed a bit of a trend. Like, this morning Rangerwickett was talking about his GM, and it was someone I'd never heard of. So, it seems like there are a lot of people on here who are fairly well known, and the others in their group - if they post on here at all, are exceedingly obscure folks with less than a dozen posts.

At first I thought you were trying to see who on here gamed with who else, but you're asking for something a bit more obtuse for that. That would be interesting...

I currently game with 'drife', he has, I think 10 posts to his name. I don't know who else he has gamed with. We've also added a couple of new guys to the group, and that latest one might have an account on here, I haven't actually met him yet.

I used to live in Kansas City, and gamed with a bunch of folks who didn't post on here. One ended up making a user id 'rath lorien' to post comments in my story hour. I think he has maybe 3 posts. I moved away, and my friend reddist (who probably has a couple of hundred posts) now GMs that group. I don't think anyone else in that group posts on ENWorld.

ENWorld game days are going to muddy this up quite a bit. I've gamed with Henry, Gerzel, Urbannen, Cthulhu's Librarian, GMVictory, Ruined One, Shemeska, Clueless, and a bunch of other people I can't really recall off the top of my head. I'll be adding more to that list after the MD/VA/DC game day coming up.

And GenCon will muddy the waters further.

I've gamed with Ghostwind, Maldur, Psion, Teflon Billy, jester47, Cthulu's Librarian, Truthseeker and a few other people who I'm blanking on at the moment. (I can see their faces, but can't remember screen names.)

Edit: And why can't online games count? That would add several other names to the list, most notably alsih2o.

I can through this little "Degrees of separation" game connect with people, for I have, for one session, gamed with PIRATECAT! :) For instance, I've gamed with Piratecat, who's gamed with Capellan. Therefore, I can connect to people on the direct opposite side of the planet from me.

Piratecat's gamed with so many different ENWorlders that I'm separated by two degrees from half the board. :)

thats just crazy. How many of you can connect yourselves to Gary Gygax, Ed Greenwood, RA Salvatore, Wies, Hickman or other well known names in the industry?

Or, we know vin diesel played d&d at some point or another, I wonder if you could connect yourself to his d&d game.

Sure count online games too.

Given the amount of games Gary has run at GenCon over the years, I'm certain someone on here has gamed with him.

And I believe someone on here has Will Wheaton in their group.

It's probably not unreasonable to believe that someone on here has gamed with Vin Diesel. It's entirely possible that Vin posts on here himself. We just wouldn't know it.

I was once theorizing with my DM about something similar, although in that case it was, "how inbred is the story hour forum?"

I'd be willing to wager you could link a significant percentage of story hour games in a web connected by current players, former players, and visiting "guest stars."

I may be the odd man out, so to speak. There's only one poster here that I've met in person and he's one of our DMs. At least that I know of, that is.
