Cookin again

Agree. Also pains me to say most of the restaurant lasagna I've ordered tastes worse than what could be found in the frozen section at Walmart.

Also on that note, frozen pizza is way better than what the cheap national chains offer now. Highly recommend Home Run Inn, Motor City Pizza Co., Screaming Sicilian, or even Red Baron (especially topped with your own toppings).
I’ve been spoiled on pizza lately because we’ve been making a lot of it at home along with homemade focaccia.

Jealous. Currently on Keto, but once I drop the weight I need to, a good pizza oven will be next kitchen splurge. Although I've heard a good stone and an oven work okay...

Maybe a hot take: dessert at 90% of restaurants is incredibly overrated and worse than just going to the store and buying a pint of Ben and Jerry’s or going to an actual bakery.
It really depends.

My personal view is skewed because I prefer appetizers over desserts, so I usually order desserts that I can’t get elsewhere or make myself.

Somewhat agreed.

Gotta find yourself a small, (probably) family-run place.

I’m currently looking for a new place because all three of my favorite places for lasagna have closed in the past decade. And while I have some candidates in mind, I’m already addicted to other things on their menus.

I haven’t done frozen pizza in 40+ years, and rarely hit the major chains anymore, except for dine-in.

My favorite pizza place closed a few years ago- I think the owner either died or moved back to Sicily- but my #2 is just around the corner from me. (Amusingly, it’s owned & operated by an Indian dude. It’s doubly funny because most of the pizza places near me are Romanian or Armenian owned.)

I need to learn how to make a proper saffron rice.

There was a tiny middle eastern grocery store & restaurant near me. The food was excellent, especially his saffron rice! The cook really knew his stuff. But he left in the middle of a renovation, and soon after, both the grocery & the restaurant closed.

There’s a new middle eastern grocery store & restaurant in that location, now, with completely different owner’s & employees. They sell a similar variety of dishes, but the recipes and cook are different.🤷🏾‍♂️
Rice + Saffron +Water. Sheesh, Danny.
