AD&D 2E Core Rules 2e - Revived

Is anyone besides me interested in a new Core Rules GUI?

If not, have you considered asking WotC to make it available for purchase?
I currently have a email out to Hasbro and WoC IP and Legal regarding that. I will let everyone know what I get back. Also, the Disk is available at --

But they say the only have 1 left in stock.

---

And for anyone interested, I do have the Patch 5 file for CR 2.0 Expansion if anyone needs it.

Yes, I actually have your errata applied to my Core Rules. But keep in mind, I am only replacing the program, not the data or books. This is an updated application to replace the TSRP3.exe file in the Programs directory. That is all. The books and data are all referenced from the program.

What this gives you:

-- A complete editor (eventually) for all data in the CD holding to Core Rules standards. Meaning, if you update a base file entry, the edited entry is placed in the UserDBas files. Base files are never touched. All registry entries are uses as Evermore defined.

-- A new user data file containing game time information (character change states, back ground, family etc.)

-- A few rules corrections that Core Rules didn't have (applying to errata's that were generated after CR)

-- I will be putting random dungeon generation back in

-- And what ever else we (as a community) would like to put it

Two things I'd like to address to ALL..

1 -- I'm sorry I cannot repost my original Demo for everyone to see where this comes from, but it doesn't work well on modern Windows. I have a sneaky way of making things work that is too complicated to explain, so I can run it and use it as a basis to build the new one. But, as soon as I get the character editor working, I will release a demo for review. And continue to update it as I complete work.

2 -- The legal debate earlier should NOT have occurred. If, um, people, had concerns of that nature, they should have addressed them directly to me, not in thread. That exchange should not have occurred here, and I too should have taken it off like. I would like to apologize to all for waste of time and misdirection, and any comments that may have offended anyone. This is a simple project in action, but a lot of work. As a Software Engineer who personally HATEs piracy an code theft (especially from AIs claiming "learning"), I would never appropriate someone else's property. So to the community, I apologize for such a public display and will endeavor in the future to keep such lines off line.

Thank you all. I am in hopes to make this a fruitful exercise for all.

I am not sure I have the patches for the discs. I am happy to be involved in the project. I'd love to run 2e again but with updated tools.

1 - It's been 25 years.
2 - It's none of your business.
3 - I do not have to justify my work or effort.
Well, okay then. Seems we don't need to take you seriously then.

Not saying you do not have your bases covered, but your posts are very confusing regarding "contacting TSR", a company that hasn't existed for decades. If you contacted TSR before they went bankrupt and were purchased by WotC, then say so. If you contacted WotC, as the owners of the TSR products and brands, then say so. Getting all huffy isn't going to drum up a lot of interest in your project.

I lost my Core Rules CDs long ago . . . but I hope your project is successful and that you can share it with the community of 2E players who would appreciate and find use for it.

You know so much about the history of WoC/TSR .. But you DO NOT know the release dates for Core Rules. I really have to give you a timeline so you can figure out what time frame I contacted them? Look it up cause I did say ---

" This has been an ongoing project for me since, well, the release of Core Rules. It took me 2 months to get in touch with the right people. We went back and forth for a number of years, they released 2.0 and still no real time data. Continuing my contacts...."

Okay, so being clear and helpful is out . . . nevermind.
