Create Holy Water ritual question

(Reference Create Holy Water ritual in Divine Power, p156-7)

Am I missing something here?

Is there any reason the duration is "24 hours" (meaning that once you create it, the water loses its effect after that time) rather than "permanent until used" (similar to how brew potion is, which is also a level 1 ritual (after errata) and has more variety of uses; or like any other alchemical item that is effectively permanent until used/consumed) ?

Am I just completely forgetting some important factor ?

It does seem silly. And I do not see any reference to purchased holy water losing it's potency.

I don't have Divine Power handy. Is Holy Water supposed to be generic and interchangeable? Your paladin of Pelor can just pick up a flask sanctified by the High Priest of Asmodeus and chuck it?

It's the only thing I can think of; it wouldn't surprise me to see this errata'd to permanent real soon now.

Yes - it's supposed to be generic.

However, I would see that as falling under the "DM advice sidebar" (I think it's in the PHB but it may be in the DMG) regarding "good" vs "evil" gods and radiant powers, about making the "evil" god radiant attacks be changed to necrotic -- i'd do the same for the holy water to make an "unholy water" (if there is such a thing? ) equivalent.
