You can give 100%, but if you want to give 110% you got to cheat. Some folks are just over achieves.

I'm not sure what the hate is for metal dice; I'm presuming that you have to go "high end" to prevent the problems I'm seeing people mention? But I've been using my EmberForge dice for 8 years and love them.

The only reason I use a DM screen is to keep information ready - not to keep things from players. At my age, I'm just not going to remember a treasure table or encounter flows - hence my use of a non-crunchy ruleset.

I'd say anything digital is the only thing I can do without at the table. I work in software dev, I play TTRPG games to get away from screens. Also, if it requires a computer to calculate rolls or build characters, then it should be a computer game. Roleplaying games should be better WITHOUT computers, in my experience.

Any "merch" is usually not my cuppa, but I get the t-shirts and the rest. People want to nerd out a bit, let their geek flag fly. Some of it is "how do you do, fellow kids" level of cringy, but that's what you get when a hobby goes "mainstream".

Also, every time I used some kind of folio instead of a simple sheet, it's been constant repetitions of helping the players find the information they were looking for.

I didn't even know that they made metal dice.

Well, you also got glass ones, wooden ones, and (gem-)stone ones. You got transparent ones with some sort of liquid in them and then have something smaller in the liquid (like a fake eye or something), and then the thing in the liquid moves when you roll the dice (liquid core is the proper term I believe). You even got ones that claim to be made from things like bones; not sure about the legality of those though.
