D&D monster to the big screen?

What D&D monster would make a great horror/action movie (set in modern-day Real World Earth) monster, without any mentioned connection to D&D?

My thinking is that a troll could work (a ravenous humanoid monster that regenerates), but a beholder would not (too gamey to work outside a D&D game).

A mind flayer could work (some highly intelligent species from the stars), but a drow could not (individuals not particularly scary; needs the whole race to instill fear).

A black pudding could work (see The Blob), but a gelatinous cube could not (cube-shaped ooze?).

Funny that I thought Rakshasha first... they look like modern day playboys as far as clothes. They are magicians in a way. They could be the uber villain demon.

Scene: Back alley mugging. Thug steps back from old lady, purse in hand, as two white tentacles reach from behind, grabbing the figure and pulling it up into darkness. Closeup on Thug's face.

Thug: Who are you?!?!

Flumph: I am... THE FLUMPH!!!

Cue upbeat modern rock score, fast action montage of the flumph grabbing weapons, fastening utility belt, combatting various criminals, rescuing kittens from trees.

Scene: Crime Boss Headquarters

Crime Boss: What do you mean, the whole shipment was destroyed? You had thirty men with machine guns and bazookas!

Thug #2: He was just too much for us, boss!

Crime Boss: Too much for you? He's just one wandering monster...how much damage can he do?

The Flumph descends from ceiling behind Crime Boss

Flumph: Spikes 1d4 plus 1d4 acid!

Scene: Exterior warehouse shot: giant explosion

I think an umber hulk would make for an excellent horror movie monster. It's alien, people looking at it go crazy and then it just tears everything apart.
