D&D 5E (2024) D&D Universes Beyond - what should they do?

Oh here's an interesting idea; could Hasbro negotiate with Kadokawa to do an official Record of Lodoss War book to try and bolster D&D in Japan?
A D&D game based on an anime that was based on a D&D game.

I think Zelda and Final Fantasy would be a given, but Final Fantasy might be a bit difficult. There are 16 different campaign worlds and a lot of systems. They'd have to be either pretty thorough or just pick one and run with it. Final Fantasy 7, 10, and 14 would probably be top options to work with.

If WoW does well, Diablo and Starcraft are on the table, which I would love to see.

Lodoss War would be wonderful, but that's already based off of a D&D game and I believe the original creators already use it for Sword World and there's a company trying to give it an official translation to bring it over stateside. It's surely doable if Wizards can do Star Wars, then anything is possible (with enough money).

Other anime titles might be cool, especially fantasy or isekai anime. That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime is almost begging for the RPG treatment, at least I would love to play in that world.

Buck Rogers would be greatness! (For like 8 of us)

Other than the above, even if it doesn't count as UB, they could just bring back Alternity!

Famous, well-loved stories with ridiculous power and lots of fighting?

Where do we STOP? It's not like this is a short list. We can go back to at least the 19th century, and that's if we DON'T consider mythology at all whatsoever, which carries its own set of things.

Consider anime (and adjacent things that people will get super mad at me if I just call them "anime" even though there's no functional difference). There's dozens of different works out there that you could EASILY use as source material for a D&D-alike game: My Hero Academia, ATLA, YuYu Hakusho, Naruto, Sailor Moon, Cardcaptor Sakura, InuYasha, Pokemon, Digimon, Fairy Tail, Ghost in the Shell, Transformers...frankly, JUST animated action media would furnish opportunities for years, possibly decades.

But there's also plenty of other spaces too. The Underworld film series, for example. Or The Witcher. Or Dragon Age. Or Brian Sanderson's books. He-Man. Or (as much as it pains me to say it) Harry Potter. Or, hell, Lord of the Rings.

Point being, name an action series. You can probably do something D&D-alike with it, at least with a little massaging.

Final Fantasy is a franchise with a lot of brand power but the licence has been for other, at least FF XIV. If Hasbro and Square Enix talked the best option could be a new title borrowing elements from previous titles.

The Japanese IPs can be a powerful bait but usually the fantasy franchises use a different magic mechanic and power scale, and the worldbuilding is too simple for TTRPG standars because there is only one antagonist faction when the RPGs need a "monster of the week".
