D&D 5E (2024) D&D Universes Beyond - what should they do?

I think you are talking a mash-up production style "Disney Descendants" or the teleserie "Once Upon a Time". It would be possible but all the work would be by Disney.

Other option could be Capcom creating a new fantasy world style "isekai" mixing all its IPs, like in the videogame Capcom vs Marvel. Capcom created the D&D arcades "Tower of Doom" and "Shadow over Mystara".

There is still a very finite limit on using the Force or tech to refluff magic. Nothing in the Star Wars universe allows for teleportation, summoning, necromancy, etc. I don't see how you refluff a wizard as either a tech savant or a Force mystic without heavily nerfing the spell list to oblivion.
I mean, they are doing just thst in Warcraft.

Warcraft magic is still fantasy magic. It's got the D&D trappings (wizards and clerics and stuff) It might not be 1:1, but like with MTG the DNA is close enough that you don't need to squint to see the similarities.

The Force is far less flashy, even if you aim for that cracked out Old Republic era of Jedi. I don't see how wizard or cleric maps onto Jedi in any enjoyable way. Not without huge amounts of revisions and at that point just build a new class.

In honesty, it's the book I'm the most intrigued about for that reason. They can't just give a barbarian a vibro axe, the wizard a lightsaber and the warlock a blaster rifle and say "pretend your magic missile uses the Force" without it being super disappointing. But I don't think they will go full SWSE and make a PHB for it. I'm going to be wrong one way or another, but I think this is going to be a far better example of what WotC is willing to do for UB than Magic or Warcraft are.

The PHB has Psychic Warrior, the Soul Knife, and Warlocks. Those feel like they can cover Jedi pretty well, the Warlock has fewer flashy bits than Wizard or Cleric.

Interesting to see exactly how they approach it.

Jim Henson's Labyrinth could be a interesting option. KPop Demon-Hunters is a very popular franchise but it is only one title and it would need a lot of work about the lore. Not all the players want to be bards and always the same enemy.

WotC will publish a new edition of Star Wars when I thought it wouldn't be possible but Disney is publishing Marvel RPG and the Marvel Zombies are practically power-broken for D&D standars. A different thing would be some one-shot adventure for Halloween in D&D-Beyond where the PCs haven't to defeat the monster but only to survive.

Horror franchises in a modern reimagination of Ravenloft? Maybe.
