Spoilers Daredevil: Born Again season two discussion

The deal given to Fisk made zero sense. He was covered in the blood of the people he had just slaughtered, and Daredevil's sense of justice is incoherent.
I agree.

Now first of all, the idea of such a deal in the first place is pretty crazy, but ok lets entertain it for a second. Fisk resignes, gets immunity from past crimes....because those are vague and questionable and it will take time to prove etc. So its still a bit nuts but I could see it.

But that does NOT forgive the crimes he then does in the courthouse. Complete murder of many people, security cameras, witnesses, the works. No freaking way your giving immunity for that.

The other notes here. They talk about Fisk "renouncing his citizenship".

Um...was Fisk not born in America? I don't think you can just toss your citizenship like that. So what, he is just an independent guy with no tie to any where? Thats....not how anything works, and if your going to make that play that this is comic land and it does work there, you need to provide a bit more explanation to your audience.

Ok so he's on this isolated island. How long until the CIA guy either takes him out or recruits him? A few hours, a day tops? If he's no longer an american citizen he is fair game for the big sharks. There is absolutely NO way that the big dogs are just going to leave him alone.

I don't think you can just toss your citizenship like that.
Yes, you can. In fact there's been talk of a requirement to be a citizen of the US you'd have to renounce your dual citizenship if you have it.

Don't just take it from me:

From the perspective of the AG and the best for the city of NY. He's already told when the governor said something about charges that there is a process to remove him. That process is long. And it's not perfect - look to DC and NY for mayors that have stayed in even after being convicted of crimes. And there is the circus surrounding it. And he's already been sent to jail before, and had power over the police and the FBI while there.

This way gets him out of office without him having the ability to do more damage, and out of the country not to return. As someone said above - a gilded cage is still a cage.

Right...but you have to be a dual citizen in that case. What other country is Fisk a citizen of?
No you do not. You just risk becoming stateless if you are not already a citizen of another country. With his money, he could easily find a state to take him in. All of that about becoming stateless is in the link. You don't have to be a dual citizen.

I am not sure he could find another state that easily. Only the most openly depraved society would take in a guy that personally murdered twenty people with his bare hands. Everyone else would be full on, "Keep that monster to yourselves."

Off the top of my head I can name three places that would likely accept him, based on hie presumed wealth.

remember Madripoor exists in the MCU, an entire rogue nation run by criminal gangs

I handwave any weird politics (like the AG offering Fisk the get out of town deal) due to this version of New York being part of a post-Blip, post-reconstruction shattered America - afterall the former President was a big red rage monster

Everyone has a pretty good idea that Madripoor is kind of a depraved society though, right?

And I might even think that Red Hulk is a counterpoint: here is a guy who was turned into a giant red rage monster against his will and yet he still only killed two people. And he was locked up! With vastly greater power he actually created rather less human carnage.
