Spoilers Daredevil: Born Again season two discussion

Remember that Fisk’s assets were frozen by the governor. He can’t buy citizenship anywhere else. He’s effectively stateless on a remote beach somewhere.

I guess if he’s got a beard in S3, it’ll be because he can’t (or can’t be bothered) to shave while stuck on the tropical island.

Off the top of my head I can name three places that would likely accept him, based on hie presumed wealth.
I would love to discuss that further but I think I have flown a little too close to the sun with the "no politics" rule recently. And I am not really a big direct message user.

Maybe it was all just pragmatic?

Let's say the decision is made to make sure Fisk goes to trial...how long does it take to even just select a jury?? With all the shenanigans his lawyers would throw up...I am guessing quite a while. Then, the trial itself...what, years? Video footage coming out of the mob busting through, chanting Kill Fisk...built in defense, especially with the DA having been complicit in Fisk's activities.

That's a long-ass trial, and he's mayor during it. Do any of you think someone that rich and powerful (as mayor) will face prison time? If so, when? Never mind that this would be the biggest (possibly longest) trial in American history...the Mayor of New York being a gangster.

It's not just, but I can totally understand why the governor might offer a deal that just makes him go away...especially before any information about the CIA operating on native soil comes to light (which we should absolutely assume Fisk has). He's gone, no citizenship, frozen assets, and it's immediate. I can see how they'd want to prioritize the last one.

I still do not think I am convinced. Letting Fisk go is an obvious miscarriage of justice. This was not an actual war where amnesty sometimes applies. And if we are going to entertain these simple "solutions" for getting rid of Fisk that ignore justice to his benefit then why not simple solutions that ignore procedural justice to his detriment? Speaking of Red Hulk, that would probably be the most fitting end for Fisk, torn apart by someone that much bigger and stronger than he is.

Let's not forget that the US government was using Fisk to smuggle illegal arms through New York. There is zero chance they want Fisk to stand trial. And, isn't the name of the AG, "Fontaine" as in Valentina Allegra de Fontaine from Thunderbolts and other MCU appearances? As in the shadow government "villain"? So, yeah, getting Fisk out of the country as fast as possible is exactly what they would be doing.
