Descent Game?

Anyone still remember Interplay's Descent series? A true 6-degrees of freedom shooter playing mostly underground in huge, complex maps, infested with "evil" mining robots?

Well, there is a kickstarter for a new game:

The game will feature multiplayer, but single player is also planned. One of the people working on it used to work on Star Citizen, too.

I have fond memories of Descent. I played all 3 parts. It's maps and play style were something unique. It was probably also the only FPS that I was good at - 3D is really hard for people.

Though I mostly focused on single player. (So I was a bit disheartened reading only about multiplayer features in the kickstarter project, but that was clarified - they also intend a single player campaign.)

yup, we had a lot of fun playing Descent after Doom and Duke Nukem as the mainstay for multi-player in college.

after awhile we went to Quake, but we got quite a few miles out of Descent.

I played Descent once or twice. Definitely overlooked it in favor of Quake and Nintendo64. I think it was the extra keyboard keys needed for z axis rotation that got to me.

Kickstarter has been my nemesis ever since these guys failed to fund: http://www.groundbranch.com/
