Homebrew Dicefreaks' Esoterica

Not sure whether I am posting this in the right forum or not - apologies if I have it wrong.

Years ago, I was one of the authors on Dicefreaks' The Gates of Hell publication. This was a massive, free project that leveraged rules from D&D 3.5e to provide an enormous amount of flavor and stats for the greatest devils in Hell. While the cosmology at Dicefreaks is not core D&D, it was nonetheless adjacent to it in many respects. The book included stats and flavor for the Dukes of Hell, the Arch-devils, and the Lords of the Nine. The CRs applied were questionable at best (epic level 3.5e has massive issues in terms of variance of power), but we had a lot of fun putting it together. The book was released some 20 years ago now, so I don't expect people to be aware of it.

In the last few years, myself and another member of the Dicefreaks forums have been working intermittently on two new projects: Esoterica and A Light from on High. Those few who know anything about The Gates of Hell may have heard about our original intentions to write A Light from on High (covering the Upper Planes of the Outer Planes). Esoterica is a new piece of work focusing on the cosmology behind The Gates of Hell - the Godspell Cosmology. These projects are system agnostic - the focus is the flavor rather than the stats. However, we believe there are useful reference points that help the reader to understand power in context, and so both projects do provide limited stats to contextualize cosmic power as well as something approximating personal combat power.

(Although I am talking about a book release, I expect this doesn't qualify as promotional material because we aren't selling anything. This is where I'm not sure whether I'm in the right forum!)

All of this to say that we have a teaser for Esoterica. This piece was put together to play with the trade dress of the book - its look and feel - as well as to show off some flavor. The entity being teased is Netzach, an Ancient One. Ancient Ones are beings far older and more powerful than gods, and representing broad ideals. For those familiar with The Gates of Hell, the Overlord of Hell is also an Ancient One, although dormant. Netzach was a champion of good long before mortals and gods arose, in the earliest age of the Cosmos. The teaser provides some information on him and his fall, and ties him to a well-known Demon Prince as a result.

We - Urizen and I - hope you enjoy it. It still lacks a lot of context from unreleased portions of the book, but we hope it is interesting nonetheless.
