In the DMG, when it lists some new high tech weaopnry (modern/futuristic), it does not list prices.. I'm not good with money balancing, what can anybody recommend to me for these items?

Well, in a regular old D&D world, such items would be rare - so I'd compare the item in question to a magical item to come up with a price. For example: a revolver might be worth about the same as a 5th level wand of magic missile. If said items are common on your world (D&D in the age of the wild west or star wars). I'd probably price them in the masterwork weapon range of 300+ gp.

Reasonable?

My campaign world is a futuristic type, where laser rifles and such are.. somewhat common. In most cases, the 'modern' firearms are used but the average person, but 'traditional' D&D weapons are available too (some are even converted to 'technological' versions (laser bladed longswords, etc).. what would anybody recommend for prices based on this info?

In this case, only the core rules would be used and gold pieces would be a thing of the distant past.

Not always.. in my campaign, the people found no reason to change the name of the currency. While most people don't carry around piles of gold coins, they instead have bank cards and such, but the amounts are still used..

sorry, just following real world examples.

The problems with prices in DMG is that they should be compared to swords and bows. You cannot just say that a revolver in Renaissance could have the same cost in a distant future. Do you understand? Perhaps food could have in your world the same costs (pollution made it very difficult to find) but mechanical weapons will cost much less than in a standard D&D world. Perhaps if you download the Spycraft lite (for free) - a d20 resource for a modern campaign- you'll find something interesting (BTW it worth buy the complete set of rules).

In that case, you should *definitely* check out Dragonstar (http://www.fantasyflightgames.com) the Starfarer's Handbook has *exactly* what you need.
