I had a player who would always play the same ranger, name and all, no matter how many times he died over the last 30 years. I always say didn't I kill that character already...multiple times...I'm definitely not a player about whom anyone can roll their eyes and say "oh, he's playing THAT class again"
I had a guy who played many wildly different characters over the years, but they were all named James. Just James. We started nicknaming them all the various versions of the name James. Jim, Jimmy, Jamie, Hames...I had a player who would always play the same ranger, name and all, no matter how many times he died over the last 30 years. I always say didn't I kill that character already...multiple times...
Im going to assume it became a running joke before too long. I ran a Star Wars game for my brother and one of his friends. They weren't into to TTRPGs but decided to give it a try, so they always had names like Bob, or Bill etc. Except the one time one of them played a Wookie and the character's name was Bobacca.I had a guy who played many wildly different characters over the years, but they were all named James. Just James.
