Doctor Who 2007: The Family of Blood

Oh, my.

That was amazing. All too often, part two of a two-parter is a let-down following on from an excellent part one, but that was emphatically not the case here. This two-parter is probably the best the series has been since Doctor Who returned.

Absolutely !

Best story yet in the reborn series - must try and track down a copy of the novel it was based on on ebay!

Cheers

Absolutely fantastic.

Brilliant acting on the part of Tennant.

Excellent story, and I felt that
the twist with the fate of the family was excellent - the idea that 'he hid to be kind to us' and effectively the power of the doctor was quite frightening
.

I think it all reveals something more about the alien-ness of the doctor in many ways too.

Soooo good. Right up there with 'are you my mummy?' IMO.

Actually I thought it harked back to what they were trying to do with Sylvester McCoy befoer the original series was canned - when he says in "Remembrance of The Daleks" that hes "so much more than just another Time Lord" and hinting that he knew Rassilon and Omega etc.

In a way I was surprised not to see more of the character Thomas Sangster played. He had such a unique talent, but they didn't really seem to go anywhere with it. I'd imagined that he might turn up in a later episode but that now seems unlikely.

He definately did know Omega. He killed him, actually. (In The Three Doctors, I think it was.) And I'm pretty sure he met Rassilon too.

OMILORD.

That was bloody FANTASTIC. :D

Everything worked. The fear. The suspense. The build up to the climactic end. David Tennant's heartbreaking performance. The final fate of The Family. The Doctor's farewell to Nurse Joan.

And lest we forget, that wonderful salute he and Martha gave to the elder Timothy at the end.

I must say, this pair of episodes has to be the best two parter in the series. Even better than The Empty Child in season 1. If the rest of Doctor Who novels are this good, maybe they should look to adapt them for future episodes. :)

Indeed, Omega was also in "Arc of Infinity" and the doctor "met" Rassilon in "The Five Doctors".

But I think that they were hinting he knew both of them millennia ago back at the start of the Gallifreyan contol of Time.
