Is the DRPG thing just a gimmick name, or are you referring to something distinct from a TTRPG?
The late 90s and early 00s were a dead spot in TTRPGs for me too. I had moved several states away to a fairly rural area where I didn't know more than a handful of people, and those people were not gamers. Add in poor tools for remote playing in those days compared to today, and the ascent of MMOs... I didn't play tabletop for about 7 years. I did play the hell out of EverQuest and WoW until I burned out though.lYeap, I played DDO and Eve for years because of the folks I ran with more than the game. I stopped playing TTRPGs during that time and it was a common discussion amongst gamers. It was the lack of creative output and desire to share that with folks that got me out of the MMO scene and back to the table

It's an RPG that doesn't have to be played on a table. Top. You might have noticed a "D" or two in the OP.Is the DRPG thing just a gimmick name, or are you referring to something distinct from a TTRPG?

OK, so the distinction between a DRPG and a TTRPG is that when one uses DRPG one is being very particular about the literal letters of the acronym, but DRPG means the same sort of games that TTRPG is normally used to mean? It's an RPG that doesn't have to be played on a table.
