Looks like he starts deviating even more than he did on the last film.

I don't get it. I like the movies, but his movies really deviate from the novels just as much as the 1984 version did, just in different ways.

This one, it appears he may really deviate from the storyline in several massive ways though, far more than any of the films or media have previously.

I appreciate the cast and the production values, but I found the reading of Dune in part 2 shallow. But then it's a book that has a lot of thematic weight and it is hard to do that and make a blockbuster. Maybe some of those compromises are worth it just to get such high production quality? I expect more of the same for part 3.

So I will look forward to seeing this but don't expect to love it.

I haven't read the book and probably never will. I've enjoyed the movies so far and it looks like I will enjoy this one.

I didn't like the original Dune enough (the first half was fine; I disliked the second half of the book) to go on to Messiah. I know the general story line of the rest of the series and I'm just ... nope.

I watched Dune; I never felt the need to watch Dune Part 2, let alone Part 3. Maybe y'all can convince me otherwise.

You're not alone. I felt like the only person on earth who didn't care for part 1 and I have zero interest in the sequels despite Dune being one of the few novels I've read more than half a dozen times.

Dune is one of my favorite books of all time. I read it at a time in my life that it just became part of my rose tinted childhood.

I've re-read it nearly every other year or so for the past three decades. It can be a bit... dry... rimshot... but I still enjoy it.

And I love the Villeneuve films. At this point I've watched part one and two several times. I think they're excellent fims in their own right and very good adaptations. None of the deviations concerned me.

Is my outlook towards the films especially common among other fans of the novels? Probably not. Luckily I don't hang my enjoyment on what other people think.

Very much looking forward to this third installment.
