I read The Hive last night and most of The Hall of Harsh Reflections. Spoiler for The Hive below:

The Hive involves the efforts of a Dwarven wizard to create her own formian hive and to infect others with her hiveblood template. If you're familiar with the Hive Brood from Mystara, it's similar to that.
