Also, we learn more about the setting of Unleashed

“Our heroes, magical agents of the Order of the Ninth Quill, are hurled into the lethal expanse of the Anauroch Desert: a shattered wasteland still radiating the catastrophic magic of Netheril’s fall."

One of the opponent forces are the Red Wizards of Thay - which was known
All very cool things.

I hope that yhe remnant of Netheril plays some part.

I hated how they tried to erase that with SCAG.

Really looking forward to this. Interesting that they are including some UA subclasses. Mystic Arts Monk looks kinda broken but I guess we'll see.

I think they very much confirmed all 4 of the remaining Wizard subclasses that didn't make it into the 2024 PHB
Yeah, with 7+ subclasses AU is going to be a subclass heavy book.

The ones that are not confirmed from the three associated UAs are: spellguard paladin, magic stealer rogue, tattooed monk, arcane domain cleric, ancestral sorcerer and hexblade warlock.

I wonder if this indicates that the Red Wizard adventure will be largely set in Anauroch.

We know the Hexblade was scrapped and won’t be here, and I think the presence of the Mystic Arts Monk and the general consensus on the playtest rules out the Tattoo Warrior from this book also.

My main question now is the Ancestral Sorcerer. I remember the feedback online being mixed and largely worried about it stepping on the Divine Souls toes. My guess is it also missed the cut, which is why the Mystic Arts UA happened to fill the space of the subclasses that did get scrapped.

Hexblade was deconfirmed as the two variants were not popular enough to make Ravenloft, so they said the idea went back into the pot until some later date. They made a big deal how art was commissioned and everything but they had to fill those pages with something else (didn't say what). So I don't think they are going to turn around hexblade for AU.

I would also wager tattooed monk didn't get high marks and was replaced by the mystic monk. (I really thought the mystic UA was for something else...) As the rest, that's fair game.

Vestige was really good, actually. We did get some grumbling on this forum about “vestige” having a different meaning than for some obscure 4e class hardly anyone has heard of.

I liked the EK monk and AA too. Transmuter don’t do much since the wizard core is so strong.
Pretty sure it was a 3e class. 4e had a Binder as well, but the 4e Binder sucked hard, so I doubt much of anyone will miss it. (Edit: Oh, and Binder was a subclass of Warlock, so this is ironically preserving something very 4e, not 3e!)

The 3e Binder, on the other hand, was a weird and interesting alternative magic system published late in 3e. Very interesting, but it was mostly mid unless you had access to the online-only Vestiges, some of which were stupidly powerful, not quite as powerful as an optimized Wizard, but still pretty amazing.

Yeah, I think we can assume MA monk was a straight up replacement for Tattoo, and we know hexblade isn’t coming. Of the others, I think the arcane cleric* will be in, since that is an update for a 5.0 subclass. And I have an idea the spellguard might relate to the adventure.

The sorcerer didn’t do much for me, it’s pretty dull (so is the demon sorc) and I didn’t like the spell thief.

*and the live stream has already done cleric and I guess they wanted different base classes.
