Enchant both ends of a double weapon?

Can you enchant both ends of a double weapon with a power?

For example, could I make a +2 Lightening Staggering Double Sword? And if so, what would the cost and level of said item(s) be?

I do know that when you enchant a double-item, the plus applies to both ends, and the power(s) only apply to the main hand portion of it. But, could I get two powers applied to that main hand portion?

Have you seen the latest rules update from a few days ago? It states that both ends share the enchantment, likely precluding different enchantments on the two ends.

Powers are not enchantments.

Like I said, I know that they share the enchantment plus, and the powers only apply to the main hand. The remaining question is, can it have two powers, which seems separate to the question of enchantments.

Yes, all of the magical properties, powers, etc on a weapon are its enchantment. You cannot have two of those on a double weapon.

Staggering = enchantment
Lightning = enchantment

The enhancement bonus is the +1 through +6 bonus to attack and damage.

You are confusing enhancement with enchantment.

I don't think I am. Where in the rules does it say the enchantment always includes the powers? Plus, where does it say you cannot have two on a double weapon?

Here is the new errata:

An enchanted double weapon gains all benefits of the enchantment on each end (even if one end would not normally qualify for the enchantment). This does not increase the frequency of use of any power possessed by the item; if you wield a double weapon with a daily power you can still only activate that power once per day.

You will note they use the terms enchantment and powers, and they do not seem to be the same thing to me in that paragraph. Also, it does not say you can only have one. It says whatever you do have benefits both ends, even if it normally could not due to the type of weapon on that end.

The question is, can you put two powers into one double weapon? And, given you COULD put two powers into two separate weapons wielded in different hands, and since the double weapon is supposed to function like two weapons, it seems possible that you could put two powers in one double weapon.

For example, from the new errata:

Wielding a double weapon is like wielding a weapon in each hand.... The two ends of a double weapon can have different proficiency bonuses, damage, properties, and weapon groups.

It seems to me that powers could be included in "properties" of a weapon.

You "do not powers in weapons". You enchant weapons and said enchantment may include one or more powers.

And you cannot enchant an item twice.

Exactly. Since it is only one item, despite being a "double" weapon, it can only receive one enchantment. If you want two different enchantments, you should use two separate one-handed weapons; this is one area where two separate weapons would be a better choice.

Also, realize that by only enchanting it once you effectively get to advance your two-weapon meleer's (tempest/ranger/whirling barb/etc.) items at the same pace as characters who only use one weapon or implement, and you won't have to worry that the +x to hit/damage is different depending on which hand you're using for that particular attack.

Yep yep.

A "double" weapon is nothing but a single weapon which get you special treatment by powers which usually require two separate weapons. It's a cost-reduction strategy: you only need to enhance one weapon to increase your attack bonus on both attacks of a power that normally requires two separate weapons.

If you can afford to enhance two separate weapons, just do that.
