Enduring acid

First Post
In a few sessions my campaign group (lv. 11) is going to visit an astonishing beautiful tropical island on a sea of acid.

Native fauna and flora are obviously adapted to this environment, the party, not.

While breathable, the air on the island carries the sea wind, hurting unprotected skin and eyes. In a few hours the damage on their lungs can be fatal.

Of course, they will have to prepare for this. Their home base is Sigil, so any kind of protection will be available.

I was reading on compendium and, for their level, found nothing that could prevent this damage, except for, maybe, Endure Elements (if I recall correctly) Endure Elements (?) and its stronger version found in The Plane Below.

But the ritual description isn't clear... by reading I get the feeling that it would prevent against only cold and heat.

Am I reading right?

Endure Primordial Elements is the higher level one, and it does indeed protect you from more than just the weather.

The PCs could also use Endurance and maybe Nature checks to reduce/avoid harm from the acid. Surely there would be equipment available that would give bonuses on those checks.

The problem I see with Nature checks is that they won't have enough time to figure out how to use the island's environment to protect against the acidic air they are already breathing.

I'll stick to the ritual, thanks :)

What are your plans should they somehow go unprotected?

There will be a guide, a dwarf.

This dwarf will be very clear: if they go unprepared they will die.

The dwarf is not stupid and will refuse to pilot the Spelljamer without protection.

If they figure out a way to find this island by reading the dwarf's mind or something like that, manage to get a ship and pilot there they will die.
