Epic Leadership: Replaces Leadership or not?

So if someone takes Epic Leadership, already has a "low" level cohort, does the character get a "new" cohort at the higher level, keeping the old cohort, or does the old cohort go away?

Same question regarding followers....does it replace the old Leadership feat or is it "in addition to"?

Thanks!

I think epic leader sip replaces leadership. You only have one cohort.

You can have mor than one cohort. You have to take the Leadership feat for each one (except cohorts you get from the Deck of Many Things). This was printed somewhere I just don't remember where though. Sage advice maybe?

DMG p147: "There are no limitations to the class, race, or gender of a character's cohorts, nor are there limits to the number of cohorts who can be employed by a character."

So, if the Sage has ruled otherwise, he's changing the rules again. (And it's not in the FAQ.)

Note that the character's Leadership score only limits the cohort's level at the time of hiring - after that point the cohort gains levels normally (with his half share of XP) - this is detailed on DMG p46.

Also note that the Leadership feat does not have a Special: section indicating that it can be taken more than once - so it can't. One feat lets you have all the cohorts you want.

Epic Leadership just continues to raise the maximum level of cohort you can recruit. It doesn't give you "another" cohort because there's no reason to, you can already have as many as you want.
