Expand Spell Knowledge of Duskblade

How many ways are there for a Duskblade to add some non-duskblade spells in his class spell list (and spells known) without multiclassing (or at least without heavy multiclassing)?

Arcane Disciple feat in Complete Divine is a good one. But are there some other good ones?

Arcane Disciple feat in Complete Divine is a good one. But are there some other good ones?

A single level dip in Sand Shaper from Sandstorm is nice for spontaneous casters; it loses you a caster level but adds 35ish desert-themed spells to your spells known, including bull's strength, cat's grace, and bear's endurance as 1st-level spells and the other 3 animal buffs as 2nd-level spells.

My 2 favorites:

-Mother Cyst Feat from Libiris Mortis. Versatility, but it's kinda Evil. Allows you to implant undead tumors into creatures with one spell, than Scry or deal damage at Duskblade spell levels.

-Single level dip into Sand Shaper PrC from Sandstorm. A single level dip adds instant access to a ton of spells to your spell list at every level you can cast.

Edit: Ohh, got outscooped on the Sand Shaper thing.

The bloodline feats in dragon magazine (# 311, 325, and 335) only required "ability to cast impromptu arcane spells" and a familiar. Obtain Familiar (+ Improved Familiar) is already considered a crazy good feat for Duskblades, so they can then pick these up. You get one spell of each level 1-9 (obviously you wouldn't get the top half) themed to the element/plane/whatever in question, with a certain subschool or spell descriptor becoming "prohibited" to you as a drawback. Just choose bloodline feats that prohibit things duskblades don't get or you werent going to use anyway.

Air, Fey and Penumbra bloodlines are nice and don't cost you much for prohibited spells, iirc.

The feats are also listed in crystalkeep, if you happened to download the files before the great calamity or *ahem* are aware of websites that reposted it.

PrCs:
Wyrm Wizard and Recaster add a very few spells known, although I can't recall off the top of my head whether a Duskblade will have a very hard or merely a hard time qualifying.
Mage of the Arcane Order would be much, much better, superficially speaking. A bit hard to get into, but the reward is "any arcane spell of a level you can cast is now available to you". Quite good, even though a Duskblade may lose a bit too much focus going this route. Better for Sorcerers, to be honest.
Rainbow Servant's capstone opens up all Cleric spells for you. Requires similar betrayal of typical Duskblade ideals (which most of the time revolve around crushing your enemies, seeing them driven before you, and hearing the lamentation of their women IME).
Technically, Ultimate Magus allows you to shift over spells from your spellbook into your spells known. Duskblade Magi are rather uncommon though, and for good reason.

Feat:
Nobody mentioned this yet? Extra Spell lets you choose a spell you do not know to add to your spells known list, up to a level lower than the highest level you can cast. An argument can be made that this includes spells off any list, including those not on your class's spell list. Interpretation of this feat is up to your DM, so handle with care.

Item:
Runestaves are a lovely option. They allow you to use a spell slot to cast a spell you do not know of the same level, predetermined by the Runestaff you have. Basically, they add spells known.

What has come before:
Mother Cyst is icky, and eeeeeeeevil, but effective. Recommended.

Arcane Disciple may be good circumstantially, but you invest a lot into just one or two nice new tricks: you invest a precious feat slot (Duskblades are very feat-strapped); your Wis needs to be high enough to cast the spell, making you MAD; and you only get one casting per day. I don't like it that much.

A Sandshaper dip is awesome, especially since it includes very nice self-buffs and makes them spammable (low level).

Can't comment on the other options mentioned by Stream.

Thank you all for replies.

Sand Shaper seems to be interesting.

The heritage feats seems interesting, too. Though I have to discuss with members of my playgroup before accepting something from Dragon.

I have checked the rules and FAQ regarding Runestaff and Extra Spell. And it seems that both of them only add spells from a character's class spell list.

I also found that with Dragontouched feat from Races of Dragon, a Duskblade can take draconic heritage feat chain. But Draconic Legacy feat needs other 4 draconic feats as it's prerequisite. So it may not be so practical.

A Runestaff normally can only be used for spells on your list, just as any other spell trigger item. And just as with any other spell trigger item, you could use Use Magic Device to fake having them and thus use the stave. You'd still be burning spell slots, but it'd let your duskblade add more spells to his list, effectively. Of course, most duskblades can't UMD so well...

Damn! I totally forgot about that tidbit. Usually, Runestaves are for Sorcerers in my mind, but in this case I just jumped to the wrong conclusion...

Hmm.. using UMD for using a Runstaff with spells not in one's class spell list. Maybe not for a pure Duskblade. But an interesting idea indeed.
