Extras Revealed For Stargate SG1: The Ark of Truth [Final Cover Art, see post #10]

Last week our friends in the home video retail industry gave us the info that the upcoming Direct-to-DVD release Stargate SG-1 - The Ark of Truth is officially confirmed for a March 11th release date, and other info besides. This morning our same friends (thank you, as always!) told us that MGM and distributor Fox Home Entertainment has now revealed an extra that will be included on this DVD.

"Stargate SG-1: The Road Taken: Prelude to The Ark of Truth" is a featurette which reportedly will examine the ending of the 10-season-long series and the decision to wrap up the ongoing Ori storyline, among other plot threads, in this made-for-DVD feature. There MAY additionally be a look in this at the second Direct-to-DVD production, Continuum, planned for release later in 2008, but that's not confirmed yet.

That's all the info they had about it so far, and they don't have cover art yet, either. But stay tuned, and we'll bring that to you just as soon as we can!

Awesome stuff. I'm very much looking forward to the SG-1 movies, as hopefully if these two do well in DVD sales, then they will consider making some more.

Along the same lines I made sure to buy a copy of Babylon 5 The Lost Tales on its release day in the hope that good sales of that will lead to more being made.

I hope they have a finalized script for that or who knows when we will see it. 2008 is optimistic given the writers strike.

It was a Canadian production, and the WGA strike didn't affect it what-so-ever. It's already been shot, and tentatively comes out on DVD in July. They're working on FX now, and there's going to be a battle that rivals, if not surpasses, the Battle of Antarctica in it.

Additional Ark of Truth Extras Not Shown On Original Press Release

A few days ago MGM and distributor Fox Home Entertainment distributed the press release for the March 11th release of Stargate SG-1 - The Ark of Truth, the direct-to-video feature which wraps up the "Ori" storyline that was left hanging when the series concluded after 10 seasons.

Since then the studio has re-issued the same press release, updated to show additional extras that weren't included on the original version. Rather than reposting the corrected version, we're simply going to list the new complete list of special features:

In addition to these extras, there will also be various "sneak preview" trailers advertising other DVD releases from Fox Home Entertainment. One of these trailers is expected to be for the DVD release of Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem, which opens in theaters the day after tomorrow (Christmas Day).

Final full-sized box art STILL isn't ready yet, but we hope you're enjoying our exclusive sneak peak above of the thumbnail. This may just be temporary art (we got it from a retailer), but then again it might be what you see on store shelves. A couple of times recently we've shown off a thumbnail of box art for the March 11th release of Stargate SG-1 - The Ark Of Truth on DVD. Last time we suggested that it might just be temp art, and as it turns out that *was* the case! Now MGM and Fox have unveiled the final box art for this package, and as you see below it's a bit different than the thumbnail we've had before. We think we're the first to have this for you, so enjoy!
