I'm jumping on the Dungeon Crawler Carl bandwagon. I hope at some point he finds some pants and a pair of sensible shoes. I'm sure it won't happen. The boxers and Crocs will be indestructible and fireproof.

The Invisibles by Grant Morrison is pretty great, IMO.

Casanova by Matt Fraction is weird science, but I don't think there's any real concern with making the science make sense, so I'd consider it fantasy more than sci-fi, but I grant that I may be in the minority. The first two volumes are tremendous. The third volume with Michael Chabon didn't grab me as much.

Die, The Wicked and the Divine, and Phonogram by Kieron Gillen are all fantasy and all strong -- I particularly like the last. It's not as polished as the others, but it's not really like anything else.

Saga by Brian K Vaughn and Fiona Staples is good, again science fantasy. I stopped reading around issue 52, but I really liked it through then. It went on a pause, and I never picked it up again.

He won't have any real accomplishments while he's in office to build a legacy on so he got a library named after him. It's all the rage these days.

The Swords of Heaven, The Flowers of Hell, by Michael Moorcock and Howard Chaykin.

Grimjack, by John Ostrander and various artists.

Sadly, Gaiman and Willingham turned out to be asshats or worse, but Sandman and Fables are still great reads.

Sticking to fantasy graphic novels, the top of the list would be Poison Elves. Drew Hayes died way too young. It was slick and stylish, had an attitude without taking itself too seriously.

After that, Savage Sword of Conan and the old DC Forgotten Realms comics spring to mind.

I have not heard someone mention Grimjack in forever and a day!

Some of my favorites have already been mentioned, so I'll give a shout out to A Frog in the Fall by Linnea Sterte. It's the story a little frog who decides to leave his home to follow two toads and ghost who are leaving Japan for warmer weather.
