Favorite campaign that you NEVER played/ran.

My long term “want to run it but never have” is Operation Rimfire for Mekton, which is as close to an 80s mecha anime in RPG form as you could hope for. I’d have to use a different system, though, since I don’t like Mekton, and that’s the difficulty.

Reading Claremont X-men recently reminds me of the time that I tried to run Asgardian Wars as a MSH adventure, and reminds me that I still want to do that.

Claremont X-Men sure has a power on the minds of some of us, doesn’t it? On my wish list is a campaign using that Kulan Gath storyline except covering all of North America, or maybe even further, as an excuse for Hyborizing lands I know.

Absolutely.

“Know, O Prince, that between the years when the oceans drank Manhattan and the rise of the sons of Apocalypse, there was an Age Undreamed Of, when shining nations were spread under the stars like jewelled mantles. Latveria with its chivalry, Wakanda whose riders wore black and gold, Madripoor with its towers of commerce and sorcery. And the proudest of these was Genosha, shining gemstone of the southern ocean.

Hither came Ororo, the Windrider, white-haired and blue-eyed, of mighty mirths and sorrows both. Thief, goddess, liberator, born to tread the golden thrones of the world beneath her unshod feet."

We all have campaigns we have intended to run, or really wanted to play in, that either fizzled out or never materialized in the first place.

What is the campaign that you really wished you got to play or run? What went wrong? Is there a chance to do it yet, or has that ship sailed?
One detonated over a player changing their mindover what they wanted of a Star Wars campaign... was an Empire Day campaign.

I'd love someday to have a Great Pendragon Campaign run to phase 5.
I'd love to have The Traveller Adventure run all the way to the end (every time, they get a good score and quit the adventure...)
I'd like someday to run a Klingon minicampaign.
I'd like to run a campaign of Yeld, a campaign of Pugmire/Monarchies/Squeaks/Pirates, a campaign of Justifiers.

I doubt I've time enough left to get to them all and keep with my new game desires.

I have had a couple of campaigns that, like the Wright Flyer, got off the ground but didn't remain airborne for long. But somehow they have got under my skin and I still, on occasions, find myself wondering what could have been?

Kore | Kingdom of Harmony was a campaign set in an alternate feudal Japan. More specifically, in a region of Japan where I lived for a few years. It sought to answer the question; what happens to a small subordinate clan caught between two larger clans? I had two attempts at running this. It was 3.5ED DnD, sort of. I was experimenting heavily with house rules for this game. One was, IIRC, E6 Gestalt using Ken Hoods Grim and Gritty combat rules. It was very niche. I am surprised I found anyone to join.

Kingdom of Ithaca was a campaign set in an alternate Ancient Greece. It was inspired by Sean K Reynolds The New Argonauts, a touch of the Clash of the Titans vibe and the question; what happened in Ithaca while Odysseus was away? I did eventually start a game set in Ancient Greece, but the premise was a little different, and we used Ironsworn for the rules.

Powersuit PbP was a campaign set in the near future, sometime between now, and the setting for Slade Steven's Overland setting. It was intended as a vehicle for testing my Powersuit rules for the Active Exploits diceless rules by Precis Intermedia Games. The characters were security employees of a large corporation sent to investigate problems at Dome construction site in eastern China. It was a great setting for indulging my love of the aesthetic of Cold War military hardware, cos, you know, the future is retro.

This post took way too long to write as it kept taking me down rabbit holes. It also served as a reminder that the memory is a funny thing. Where I did pull up some original material, it was often different from what I thought it would be. So the above may only bear a passing resemblance to the facts.
