I'm a huge fan of Jet Lee's earlier stuff. Once Upon a Time in China I through IV are great. Fong Sai Yuk I and II, I think they're called "The Legend" in the US. Fist of Legend and The New Legend of Shaolin are also two of my other Jet Li favorites.

If you want to go with the classics, look for The Five Deadly Venoms, or any of Bruce Lee's wonderful films.

The genre is pretty broad, actually. There's the "fluttering capes and swordfighting" fun of things like Dragon Inn and Swordsman II, the "superhuman kung-fu" of Once Upon A Time In China and Iron Monkey, and there's Jackie Chan, who's really a genre unto himself.

Then there's wacky things like Peking Opera Blues, which is WAY more fun than almost anything except most of the movies listed above.

The definitive book in English on the subject is Sex And Zen And A Bullet In The Head.

Shoulin Soccer is a very funny movie and some great Wuxia stuff (especially the parking).

Stormriders? is a good Wuxia movie as well. Very good special effects for a Martial Arts movie.

I think both should be available on DVD.

House of Flying Daggers is a quite new one (don't even know, whether it's available in localized versions yet, I saw it in chinese with english subtitles) and incredible cool. Think Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon but with wire-fu and tricks so smooth you don't notice. It's even done by the same director, iirc.

House of Flying Daggers is directed by Yimou Zhang, who also directed Hero with Jet Li. Both are great movie, with stunning visuals and use of color.
