I did two of those. The silver one I mistakenly sprayed matte varnish. Which immediately made it all tacky.

That hydra arrived, but I guess I should have ordered the 32mm version because at 28mm it is smaller than I understood it to be based on the measurements given on the store. The dread started when I saw the size of the box it was mailed in, and I got Next Level Minis vibes as I unwrapped it (if anyone is familiar with the response to their first kickstarter).

It remains a great sculpt, but feels a little closer to Large than Huge (reinforced by coming with a base that is larger than 2" in diameter, but smaller than 3 inches).

I stood it against some 28mm and 32 mm hero minis and it regains some of its intimidation factor in comparison, so I think I'll get over it once it is painted and in use.

The other minis look great and feel closer to the general sense of scale that works for me. I really don't usually care about scale and mix match scales - but sometimes a big monster needs to seem even bigger to have the effect at the table when you bust it out.

Scale can get a little wonky at times. I've typically associated such a thing with older versus newer models. In this very thread I think we've seen how puny the old Ral Partha models from the 1980s look compared to today. Even Games Workshop's older Space Marines look positively tiny compared to the newer ones. I hadn't considered it might be a problem again with so many companies producing their own models these days.

I've got a Bones White pig that's still tacky some 3+ years later. Nice to see those dragons making the most of those tactical rocks they're standing on.

The one I’ve been talking about in this thread since I ordered it last month.

The hydra (28mm) is on the left. The ogre, the knight (painted), and the lizardfolk are all also 28mm. The cultist (painted) is 32mm.

That's not a bad looking hyrdra even if its stature isn't imposing. Where did you order it from?

That's another model on my list of ones to purchase. My wife has given me free license to purchase any turtle related items.

I got that guy as an add-on with Bones 5, I think. I wish I had the clear acrylic stand, though - it's way better than the one it came with, as you can see!
