I’ll have to track down the company that makes this as I think I bought a bootleg from China. I ordered it from Amazon, but I figured it was safe because it wasn't a deep, deep discount. But it arrived in a plain cardboard package with no company logo and it was broken. After a little research, I figured out it was made by Ouroborus Miniatures, and I'm going to see if I can order something from them. I hate the idea an artist or a small company got cheated.

This is some sort of android that wears an artificial skin. It's not anatomically correct....not wholly anyway. I've been wanting to practice my skin work (does that sound creepy?), and it's hard to find models that show a lot of skin while remaining family friendly. This one didn't seem so bad.

Let's talk a little bit about how I painted this thing. The skin was airbrushed on. I started with a pink base color and followed that up by spraying some violet red on the parts of the mini that point downward and in the nooks 'n crannies. I followed that up with some very light coats of a base flesh color, a few coats of a lighter flesh color, and finally a highlight of really, really light flesh. It's hard to tell from the photo, but you can see some of the base layers coming through, which is what I wanted. Because this is an artificial person, I made no attempt to add imperfections to the flesh like I would have with a "live" person. That'll come with my next project. I finished the skin off with a glaze of a mid-tone flesh color combined with one drop of transparent red.

I had to use my brush for the hair, eyebrows, eyes, lips, and the artificial purple on the lower part of the face. For the robot parts, I used some Purple People Eater, Syrinsa, and Turbo from Turbo Dorks and applied them with a regular brush. I finished everything off with a satin finish from Army Painter.

I'm pretty happy overall. I need to keep working on eyes though but at least those are a bit easier at this scale. There's another flaw on the lower part of the model. I didn't notice there was a hair stuck to the model and I put several coats of paint over it. It was too late to fix, so I'm just going to live with it.

I bought this bust as a present for my brother-in-law because it looks just like him and this will be a Christmas present. When I say it looks like him I mean it. Dude’s an absolute unit.

I based the skin with Vallejo violet red and then a zenithal highlight of pink. It’s a subtle difference, but it’ll set up the thin coats of paint that will follow.

Got a good source for busts?

Got a good source for busts?
I don't. I own a total of three busts. The first I bought at a scale modeling event in Jonesboro, Arkansas in 2025 and the other two I I got off of Amazon and I'm pretty sure one of them is a recast and the other was produced by the factory by sold by someone other than the company it was supposed to be sold by. I just don't have a whole lot of experience with them. The cyberpunk woman peeling off her artificial skin was originally made by Ouroborus Miniatures out of Great Britain. They have some cool stuff on their website. I can't remember who made the skeleton bust I painted last year.

I’m mixing it up a bit. I applied a lighter shade of pink in a zenithal and deepened some shadows with the original base color of violet red. I then used Army Speedpaimt blood red through my airbrush at an extremely low pressure to create those speckles. When I start laying down my flesh tones, in theory those speckles will create the illusion of textured skin.

Wow, I am no where near yall's level, but still want to keep my hand in the game.

Here is a floral druid in azalea dragon form. Marvelous supplement. Mini was 3d printed at a friend's, should have used a .2 instead of a .4.

Super cool concept. Love it! I remember there was a floral dragons kickstarter book a while ago that sounded cool. I guess I know a weakness I have :D

Looks good! Not a competition :) I think we all do it because we like it. I don't stop singing in the car because I can't sing nearly as well as actual singers ;)
