Still working away at my bin of randomness. Here's a Wizkids Marut and a Reaper minotaur (I have so many minotaurs that I decided to paint this one blue, like Babe, Paul Bunyan's ox):

Done a bunch more. mostly critters and stuff. These Reaper cultists were kinda fun, though their new siocast plastic is terrible; it's basically like brittle resin. One of them broke just from the pressure of my hand while painting them.

I don’t know if I’ve painted any of their new siocast models. I’ve had problems with brittle figures from other people. I ordered a 32mm figure off Etsy and threw it away because I broke it about 60 seconds after opening the package.

A tale of two badonkadonks. I have a 1/6 scale model of Red Sonja and I started on the base. The figure came with two sets of legs and waists, on slim and the other larger. I asked my wife which I should use and she reminded me that thick thighs save lives.

Are all of Reaper's new miniatures using the siocast plastic or is it a specific product line?

Reaper currently makes four wide categories of miniatures:

• Metal. This is being phased out as metal is getting really expensive.
• Bones Classic. This is primarily used for larger models nowadays, but you still have some smaller models in circulation.
• Bones Black. This is a stiffer version of Bones. Better detail, less bendy, not quite as indestructible.
• Bones USA. This covers two types of models: either 3d-printed resin or SioCast. I don't know if there's a way to tell which is which.

Metal and Bones USA are made in Reaper's own factory in Denton, while Bones Classic and Bones Black are cast in China (which causes some issues given current politics). I think most new models are Bones USA because that's a thing they can make locally and doesn't require huge series. Bones Classic/Black are made in metal molds (Goobertown has a video here showing how PVC models and molds are made – the video isn't Bones-specific but I think the process is roughly similar) which cost a lot to make but once made can churn out models really cheap, so they primarily make new ones when doing Kickstarters, which they haven't done for minis in a while. I haven't been keeping up with Reaper's internals (they do weekly Twitch streams where they talk about what's going on), but if I were in charge I'd hold off on new Bones Kickstarters until, um, trade and foreign policy are a bit more stable.

So basically, if they're making new new models, they're likely Bones USA. There may still be new releases in Bones Classic or Bones Black, but those are things still being done from the latest Kickstarter (the Kickstarter generally pushes all the models to backers, and after that they gradually enter public release because they don't want to release a hundred models all at once and then not release anything new for a few years).
