Hey everyone Frog overlord here,
It is time (as of 12 hours ago) the boats have set sail and the journey deep into the treacherous seas of Graecia has begun. Final Quest: Odyssey is now live!
What is the Odyssey?
If you're not familiar with The Odyssey, then be warned for spoilers ahead. Although it is nearly 3,000 years old, The Odyssey is one of the oldest surviving works of literature in human history. It follows the King of Ithaca, Odysseus, and his journey home after a decade long war for the city of Troy.
Upon leaving Troy, Odysseus and his crew become lost at sea, facing great unimaginable monsters, strange islands and the wrath of the gods. They struggle from island to island suffering under the weights of the gods. Odysseus must survive all that is thrown at him and sail upon the seas of Poseidon, if he wants a chance to make it back home.
Final Quest: Odyssey, takes you on this same journey... We hope you have what it takes.

Story
You had heard of the stories of these Graecian gods, of how they were fickle and ill-tempered. A traveller in their lands was wise to watch how they treated strangers and to tread lightly in the wilds, lest they cause some offence.
Which is fine in practice, but when crossing between islands and a gaint sea beast rises from the depths, a warrior strikes back. And that would have been fine too, were it not for the last impetuous spear thrown that peirced the beast's heart and sent it sinking back over the side of the boat into the wine-dark depths.
That single spear throw was your undoing.
For now you are cursed by Poseidon, god of the seas. It seems the creature you slew was one of his favourites. He has cursed you to never leave these waters - preventing you to ever return home. An Oracle provides you with the knowledge that if you travel the oceans and pay tribute to him at shrines on remote islands to win back his favour. Of course, these islands are dangerous populated with mythical creatures and deadly raiders.
So, do you have what it takes, to survive one more Final Quest?

Gameplay
Game Cards
Much like the other games in this series, Odyssey plays directly through the cards. The card deck in this case is split into two sections - Six Island decks & one master deck also known as the Odyssey cards. The game objective is to survive the journey through each island in order to make it home. Surely it can’t be that hard.. right?
There are a total of six of these islands to explore. Each island features its own dedicated card deck packed with unique NPCs, locations, items, and opponents. To guarantee that every playthrough remains fresh, each time you land on an island you take its core deck, add five random Odyssey cards from the master deck, and shuffle. You will draw a single card each day and journey across the island.
Sailing
But what happens when you're travelling between islands?
Well, this is where the other main sequence of the game comes in - Sailing. This section, we’ve made far more automated than the previous and is closer to a resource management system. Before you travel to the next island you will be given a travel distance; this will usually be between 2-9 turns. (thematically this represents weeks - months of travel) Each day will result in a random sea event to take place. These can range from windy seas up to the deadly Sirens call. Afterwards, calculate if any supplies, hull damage or if any crew have been lost.
To see a more detailed breakdown check out the kickstarter page where we share exports of the rulebook itself and various game cards.
We have been wanting to cover the Odyssey for some time and for those ultra Frog supporters you will know we initially started by producing exclusively RPG content, before transitioning into solo games. So what are you waiting for, grab your armour and sword and set sail.
