Force vs DR

This may seem like a silly question but... is a Force spell affected by DR?

On the one hand... Force affects pretty much everything, isn't resisted normally (no saves either), and is magic;

On the other hand... Force conjures up thoughts of a physical-like impact (esp. with the Big Hand spells), and DR would affect that.

Yea or nay?

In a word, no. Check pages 291-292 of the DMG under Damage Reduction and you will find the following statement: Spells, spell-like abilities, and energy attacks (even nonmagical fire) ignore damage reduction.

Spells always go through damage reduction. Energy resistance can absorb some spell damage, but damage reduction never will. It's just a flat rule.
