I've been downloading all the free Tor e-books as they come out and they have some very good titles on their list. Glad to see that the Baen model (full books free to draw people into a series or to an author's body of work) is taking hold elsewhere.

I'm even DLing all 3 versions (PDF, HTML, Mobi) just in case I get an e-book reader somewhere down the road.

Wow, I didn't even know you could do this... Free books for downloading! That aren't crappy! :O I'm going to have to check this out ASAP. Tor is great, too.

Does anyone know if you can put these things on an iPod touch to read? And if so, what format it should be in/how to put it on? I only got mine a few days ago, and I'm still working out how it works. But I love the idea of being able to read on the go with an electronic book as well as a paper one.

I have it from David Weber who I spoke with at a book signing when Off Armageddon Reef came out that Tor is taking Baen's example to heart that making books available to download drives sales up and is trying to figure out their own version of the Baen Free Library.

And Shadow Gate is out now? I haven't seen it anywhere!
