Application issue

For some reason the executable was lost. I tried to reupload it but only got partially thru. I just uploaded it again and it went thru so you should be ok. Sorry about that.

Hey! I finally sat down and played around with this. THIS IS COOL!!! I might actually be willing to DM 3E again if I'm sitting at a table with my computer and this running! Right now I am confused on adding the skills to the character. I haven't clicked on the help button yet, so I'll find out how good your help feature is.

Group initiatives, monster initiatives, dice roller, this looks very good! Would I be right to suspect that I can import the monsters from the monster library into the initiative generator?
Plus it looks like you have it set up to let me add whatever I create very easily.

there may be other good programs out there, but this is the first that I have personally seen/used and it looks real good so far.

Is there a forum I should join?

Very cool program! I like the easy-to-use customization feature it brings, though I am not clear if when I add a new feat (for example) to the list if it can add the bonuses (if any) to the PC I create with the Player's Library.

Since it is 3.0 it is of very limited use to me right now (though it should come in handy for those Testament adventures), so I am eagerly awaiting a 3.5 version. Good luck with the program, it has really awesome potential.

Questions

Hi Treebore, I am glad you are enjoying it. The 3.5 rules should be out within the next couple of weeks. I am working on that now.

Yes, I built it so you could adjust anything, even my bad typos. The belt was probably subject to one of my testing routines and I simply forgot to change it back. I code the software. Data entry isnt always suited for me but I am getting it :). Unfortunately you cant use the monster library in the initiatives. In hindsite it seems so obvious but I over looked it. I will get on that as soon as possible. From a coding point of view it shouldnt be to hard at all.

FORUMS:
I have a forum section on my site. I dont want to discourage people from using it but forums like enworld kindly allow me to post on there sites so please use mine for discussions about the application. I certianly dont want to drive traffic away from enworld.

You can find the forums link right under the login button on the main page. Your account you signed up for to download gives you access to the forums to post. They are pretty empty but I would welcome someone to start us off.

HalWhitewyrm, This might seem like a oversite but I thought about it very long and hard. I believe in letting the user manage the character as much as possible. So feats and magic items do not automatically adjust your character. Simply put there were to many house rules to deal with and the logic of adding an item to your character that he/she/it would not have the appropriate abilities for. Not to mention all the fighting with "other" applications that automatically adjust incorrectly. So in the long run I purposely left this out to give more freedom to the user and not relying on the program logic to do it all for you. I spent countless hours using "automatic" systems that left me scrathing my head wondering why I couldnt combine magic items or wondering why I got a god like bonus for my +1 ring of protection. In the long run I looked at the players library as a digital character sheet. Some of it is figured out for you but mostly you have the freedom to do whatever you want with your character without the application fighting with you.

In the end even the players library has an unlock function that unlocks the preset information so you can adjust it.

Stay tuned more to come.

OK, so when you code the monsters to work in the initiative program is it going to put in the monsters "standard" init by default?

When you get the 3.5 version going I think you should get a lot of interest. I assume you aren't going to keep this free forever?

Thanks for the info, Bluefrog. I don't mind doing the adding myself, as long as I can keep track of newly-added stuff, which your program already does.
I'll be keeping an eye out for the 3.5 update so I can really take it for a spin.

RE Questions

Treebore, Yes, by default it will use the default but I will probably put in an override that will allow you to specify in case you dont want to use the default.

HalWhitewyrm, Yes. According the Open Gaming License I can not charge anything for the information. As Treebore pointed out it will not be free forever. I include the information as default so you dont have to add everything right off the bat but its really the application I am focusing on. I am putting as much information from the SRD as I can possibly fit. For example the Magic Library tripled in size today because I put in all the information I could from the SRD. The focus of the applications really is to allow you to put in your own information. So with that in mind I gave it the flexability to be as dynamic as I can. Of course I am making it more dynamic moving forward. Right after the 3.5 release I will be working on the game mechanics interface which will be the corner stone of the players library. From here you can add your own races and information and really make it flexable not only for D&D but just about any other d20 system.

So (taking off my sales and marketing cap) there are some cool things in the works.

Price

To be honest. I have not decided the exact price however it will more then likely be around or under ten bucks. The books are expensive enough. It is important to note for licensing reasons that you will be paying for the application not the information it comes with. I have seen (other applications) between 20 and thirty bucks which I think it unreasonable.

With the release of the game mechanics interface it will make the system really dynamic so you can tweak whatever you want. When thats complete you will be paying for the application and thats it. Buy once and you dont have to buy again. I make minor plugins like a random treasure generator or perhaps a party treasury list. These will be minor plugins probably only a couple of bucks each so thats the plan. I am moving forward with a whole bunch of ideas.

I hope I didnt turn anyone off with this pricing but I thought it was fair. Let me know your thoughts.
