So....was the bad guy able to taylor the toxin to exactly Walter's DNA? I was wondering why Peter wasn't affected since he is supposed to be Walter's son. Just wondering if this was another hint to the characters that the relationship between Peter and Walter is even more different than it appears.

Yes, recall the Nazi guy had broken into Walter and Peter's place and stolen Walter's sweater (and an apple).

Most likely taking a hair from the sweater, he targetted Walter's specific DNA. Considering how quickly he whipped it up, I'm guessing he did not have time to broaden it to blood relatives, thus Peter was unaffected.

And did anyone else think the "noble brow" comment was a reference to John Noble (the actor who plays Walter)?

Yes...his son, from another dimension.

There is what Truth Seeker said (above) but also (unless I'm completely misremember biology) that DNA is per person, not per family line. While Water and Peter (as father and son) have some common DNA parts, they are not identical DNA (that could be a clone).

I would imagine given the short time frame the bad guy had, he didn't break down the DNA on the sweater to different parts (which could have gotten Peter, depending on which parts he used) but instead just programmed the virus with "if it matches this DNA..."

anyway, just rambling, nothing of consequence here :)

This Peter is from another dimension, though, and so while it's quite possible that it would have killed someone related to Walter, perhaps it has no effect on people related to Walter prime, whose DNA could be sufficiently different.
